Advocates for Human Rights, Peace and Development (AHUPED), an NGO has dragged Igara West MP Raphael Magyezi and the Attorney General of Uganda William Byaruhanga to Constitutional Court over age limit amendment bill.
In a petition, AHUPED states that actions of Magyezi of moving the bill are contrary to the constitution thus the rights of citizens are being violated and further threatened by his position.
They say the move by the legislator to have the constitution amended by a private members bill is irregular and unconstitutional.
According to AHUPED, the Attorney General has been jointly sued for enforcement purposes.
Now, the organization wants Court to issue a temporary injunction against Magyezi restraining him from carrying out any further activity/ processes towards the constitutional amendment bill (no. 2) 2017 before parliament until the hearing is determined.
