Parting ways for college can be a real test for any couple but everyone knows the basis for a long-distance relationship is trust.

However, it appears that one young romantic is slightly lacking in faith when it comes to his girlfriend.

A photograph of a text sent by a boyfriend, believed to be from the US, to his girlfriend ahead of college is doing the rounds on social media due to its rather clingy nature.

A text sent by a boyfriend on the day his partner left for college is doing the rounds on social media due to its extremely paranoid nature

The man who is known only as ‘Hot Stud Muffin’ to his girlfriend, types a list of demands to his departing partner on her first night at college, reports Ladbible.

He wastes no time in laying out some ground rules writing: ‘NO BOYS. NO DRINKING. NO BOYS. MO DRINKING. please be smart alright. I know you will dang it but please be smart.’

He then continues to explain that he is has set a good example and is having trouble coming to terms with her social plans.

He adds: ‘This is really hard for me because I’ve always been a tremendously good person and have never gone to a party.’

In the text the man tells his girlfriend that she is forbidden from drinking and talking to boys

Her paranoid partner then begins to issue demands and attempts to remind her of his ‘importance’.

He writes: ‘When I text you you are to answer. The party is not and will not ever be more important than me. You better know what you are doing.

‘Please don’t do anything to ruin us. I know you won’t but a reminder never hurt. Around 9:30 text me when you’ll be home.’

He finishes the message by repeating a few initial instructions before reminding her that he wants her to call that evening.

He says: ‘Have fun. I love you bunches. I don’t know why I allow this but whatever go. NO BOYS. NO DRINKING. and I love you

‘And you’re calling me tonight and I’m getting every detail.’
