Vipers squandered a hard earned lead to lose for the first time this season, a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Police at Namboole stadium on Saturday.
Milton Karisa put the two-time Azam Uganda Premier League Champions ahead in the 54th when he blasted past Douglas Kisembo in the Police goal.
However two defensive mistakes gifted striker Hood Kaweesa two goals as Vipers goalkeeper Ismail Watenga conceded for the first time.
First, he slipped the ball past Watenga while the second was a well placed which the custodian got a hand to but couldn’t keep out.
It was bitter pill to swallow for coach Miguel Da Costa as the two sides were evenly matched for long periods in the polite sunshine.
The result put Police top of the league with 10 points as their goal difference is better than Vipers’ after matchday five.
Da Costa will be hoping for an immediate response when his side host Soana at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Wednesday.
