The 2017/18 FUFA Women Elite League officially kicked off on Saturday at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
Visitors Ajax Queens overcame Muteesa 1 Royal University 1-0 courtesy of Bridget Nabisalu’s goal on 40 minutes.
Nabisalu scored direct from a corner kick beating Muteesa 1 Royal University’s goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro at the near post during the exciting match.
It was an interesting game that witnessed either sides create a couple of goal scoring opportunities.
Ajax’s Carol Nakyanzi as well as the Mutesa duo of Betty Namataka and Habibah Nakayobyo were culprits on the sunny evening.
FUFA third Vice President Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi was chief guest during the match.
FUFA Deputy CEO Humphrey Mandu, Executive committee member Hamid Juma, Margaret Kubingi, Paul Ssali (Coaches delegate), Hadijah Namuyanja (FUFA Women football development officer), national team head coach Farida Bulega and Crested Cranes Ex-internationals attended.
The league returns on Sunday with four matches.
