Kampala Minister Beti Namisango Kamya has lashed out at the government owned newspaper, The New Vision calling them out as doing “irresponsible reporting”.
Kamya’s comments at the floor of parliament follow New Vision lead story that stated that the Kampala Minister sneaked out Minister Ronald Kibuule’s firearm out of parliament ahead of last week’s fracas in the House.
Kamya who denies sneaking out the gun, said her name has been brought to disrepute after the ‘framing’ story published by the newspaper.
She says it was irresponsible for the local newspaper to carry out such story and even quote a source in parliament.
The minister further requested parliament to call New Vision to order as well as ordering it to retract the story and apologize to her.
It is however not clear why Ms Kamya has gone to Parliament to ask New Vision to retract the story, and not to court where ordinary such arbitration is done.
Meanwhile, water minister Kibuule also yesterday came out to deny ever entering parliament with a gun even though Speaker Rebecca Kadaga last week confirmed that she saw footage of the minister possessing a gun in the chambers.
