Nabweru Magistrates Court Judge Nasamu Rebecca on Friday acquitted Pastor Aloysious Bugingo of House of Prayer Ministries in a trial where he was accused of burning hundreds of Bibles.
The controversial pastor burnt bibles that contained words ‘holy ghost’ claiming they were misleading his followers.
Judge Nasamu said the plaintiff was supposed to first consult the authors of the Bible to find out whether Bugingo’s act of burning bibles was right or wrong thus ruling that the pastor was free to go.
In April this year, former Ddembe Presenter Aloysius Matovu Kiiza and Evangelist Semugooma Francisco (both born-again Christians) through their lawyers Wamell and Co. Advocates filed a case accusing the pastor of “insulting religion and wounding Religious feelings” when he burnt hundreds of Bibles at his church in Makerere Kikoni.
