Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President General Gen. Mugisha Muntu has condemned police brutality and siege on parliament which took place yesterday on Thursday during the age limit scuffle.
In a statement issued on 21 September, 2017, Muntu said the tense event has become a new normal for President Yoweri Museveni’s rogue regime.
According to Muntu, the people’s actions are in response that Museveni and his NRM party MPs should respect the sanctity of the nation’s constitution and refrain from amending it to remove the age limit on presidential candidates.
“It is absurd that the same government that has been calling for level headed debate on the issue of the presidential age-limit is now using excessive force, illegitimate means and incoherent arguments to stop patriotic Ugandans from exercising their fundamental human rights,” He stated.
The retired serviceman further revealed that those seeking to amend the constitution are the ones pausing a threat to the country.
“General Museveni needs to understand that those seeking to amend the constitutions pause a threat to this country, not those valiantly protecting it,”
“Power belongs to the people. Not government, not the military and certainly not the self serving members of parliament seeking to return the country to its dark past.”
