Kumi Woman Member of Parliament Monica Amoding on Tuesday made headlines when she stood out as the only NRM member out of the 246 legislators to oppose the amendment of article 102b of the constitution which calls for the lifting of the presidential age limit.
The MPs sat in an extraordinary meeting and voted on the contentious amendment of Article 102 of the Constitution.
The motion was moved by the Kyaka County MP, Jakson Rwakafuuzi, a lawyer by profession, and seconded by all the attendants except Amoding and they agreed to table a private member bill on the floor of parliament on Thursday.
Amoding said she moved into the meeting without prior knowledge of the intention and she stormed out of the meeting in contest of the decision.
The vocal MP first came to Parliament in 2011 as the national female youth MP. She has since been vocal on youth and women issues.
Amoding is the current Chairperson of the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association.
