PostBank Uganda has opened a branch in Moroto town, to serve the area of Karamoja.
Moroto becomes the 40th branch on the bank’s fast expanding network across the country.
Mr Stephen Mukweli, Managing Director PostBank Uganda, said, “As a national bank, financial inclusion is one of our major focus and this we have done by bringing services closer to the Wananchi”.
He added that, “We cater for customers who do not have traditional collateral by embracing social collateral and non-titled/registered assets, I wish to encourage the people of Moroto and the surrounding areas to take advantage of kyapa product to get land tittles for sustainable development and value enhancement.”
PostBank has been serving Karamoja region for 9 years now since 2008, hitherto serving the community using mobile banking vehicles.
Postbank believe this will enable them reach deeper locations which otherwise would be costly for the Karamoja based customers to travel to Moroto.
The guest of honour and minister of state for Finance (General duties), Ajedra Gabriel said, “I sincerely hope that the people of Moroto will sieze the opportunity that this new branch presents to acquire funding and grow their businesses.”
