The Director of Communications and public affairs at Parliament Chris Obore has warned Ugandans who have made it a daily routine to form whatsapp groups and forcefully adding members of parliament then harass them over the highly debated age limit.
Obore said the phone numbers of MPs were picked from the parliamentary website by some people who went ahead to create whatsapp groups like Memorial Africa, Team No Age Limit among others to threaten the legislators whom they suspect to support the lifting of age limit.
“When MPs quit such groups, they are forcefully added. Political agitation is good but harrassment of others tantamoint to intolerance. Intimidation could trigger a reaction,” said Obore.
“Hopefully the perpetrators will not cry foul when laws on cyber crimes are triggered against them by the authorities concerned,” he added.
