Over 20 schools are set to compete for the national schools beach soccer challenge, a tourney that is going to take place tomorrow 1st of July 2017 at Lido beach Entebbe.
Munta Royal College Luwero is the defending champion and is set to face the challenge.
According to the chairman of the Uganda Beach Soccer Association [UBSA] Mr. Deo Mutabaazi, the tourney is purely for secondary schools boys and shall attract a bigger turn up of both the crowds and schools.
‘‘The tournament is purely for secondary schools and we expect a higher rate of competition as compared to last year’s turn up.’’ Said Mutabaazi.
Mutabaazi added that due to the limitations in the beach soccer fields across the country, the tournament is still on invitation format where few schools are invited to take part in the championship.
‘’We have plans to take the championship to other parts of the country. Actually in the future, we shall have regional qualifiers in all FUFA football regions.’’ Mutabaazi lamented.
The chairman for schools beach soccer Mr. Joseph Tamale is happy for the turn up of this year. It is on this note that he advised all participating teams to keep maximum discipline as well as playing with in the laws of the game.
The games are expected to kick off at 9:00am at the stated play grounds of Lido beach Entebbe.
