Uganda’s ruling Party NRM has condemned media of being a bias entity following its ‘refusal’ to report about Police dispersing its rally at Wampewo grounds.
Angry government Spokesperson Ofwono Opondo said media people are so biased that they refused to report how NRM’s Sebalu Sitenda was denied to rally at Wampewo grounds by police.
“Media bias @NRMonline denied rally #Wampewo grounds by police but not being reported about,” Opondo tweeted.
Earlier today Kyadondo East Parliamentary seat candidate Bobi Wine was arrested and detained at Kira Police station as he was about to stage his last campaign. He was later released and ordered to change campaigning venue since his previous choice of venue was against the Electoral Commission’s guidelines thus opting to relocate to Gayaza for his last rally.
A few hours from Bobi Wine arrest incident, NRM came out to claim that their candidate Sebalu has also been arrested under unclear circumstances though a few minutes later he was also set free.
According to NRM Communications Officer Rogers Mulindwa, Sebalu was forced to also change venue from Wampewo to Sir Appolo Kaggwa Church of Uganda.
