Kampala Metropolitan Police has said they arrested Kyadondo East Parliamentary seat contender Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine just to engage him to agree on a few technicalities which could have led to his disqualification.
Bobi Wine who was detained at Kira Police Station was later released without any charges pressed against him.
Frank Mwesigwa, Commander Kampala Metropolitan Police said they detained Bobi Wine because the ground he chose contravened the electoral campaign guidelines, which require such functions be held far away from a market or hospital.
“Please take note that Kampala Metropolitan Police is not pressing any charges against Bobi Wine. Rather we needed to engage and agree on a few technicalities. We have agreed on a new venue in Bulamu, Gayaza. His earlier venue violated EC campaign guidelines & he risked being disqualified,” Mwesigwa said.
Apparently, the singer already off to Gayaza to proceed with his last campaign.
