Government is set to demolish National Theatre to pave way for a 36-storey modern building. Tenants have been given until end of this month to vacate the premises.
During a meeting last week, Uganda National Cultural Center (UNCC) ordered the tenants to pack their wares and move out.
The proposed new modern facility, which is expected to cost about shs300bn, is set to be transformed into a mega complex with a shopping mall, arcades, modern restaurants, bars, cinemas, state of the art auditoriums and a six underground car parking.
Last year, several arts & music practitioners demonstrated outside National Theater over the proposed plan to renovate the facility.
