Officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony for a specialized, state-of-the-art hospital at Lubowa in Wakiso District.
This facility will save up to $186 million annually that Ugandans incur on medical expenses abroad, mainly in China and India.
Apart from serving Ugandans, this hospital will also serve the people in the region and beyond.
The complex will include a world-class internationally accredited 250-bed hospital, residences for senior staff and a specialized training school.
It will also house a conference and exhibition centre for healthcare related events and a budget hotel for relatives and friends of the patients.
Some of the specialized medical care the hospital will handle includes cancer detection and treatment, heart diseases, neurosurgery and organs transplant.
Finally, I want to warn individuals who claim government land and frustrate government programmes. Government programmes should take priority.
Special thanks to Enrica Pinetti, the chairperson of Finasi, that is behind this project.
