Former Presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye yesterday during the burial of his father-in-law Mzee Boniface Byanyima revealed his unhappy mode against the residents of Kiruhura district who pretend to love President Yoweri Museveni more than the people who staked their lives for him during the suffering period of the liberation war in 1980s.
While addressing mourners in Ruti Mbarara district, Besigye said in 1980s while looking for votes for Museveni, the people of Kiruhura refused to vote for him but now he is wondering how they got such kind of love and affection towards the president.
Besigye further said when Museveni went to the bush, him and other colleagues went with him but now the people of Kiruhura say they love him more than the war heroes.
“I once told people in Nyabushozi that in the 1980s, when we were looking for votes for President Museveni, the people in Kiruhura refused to vote for him. He went to the bush and we went with him, but now the people of Kiruhura say they love him more than us,” said Besigye.
Kiruhura is the home district for President Museveni.
