Kasese Woman MP also Leader of Opposition in Parliament Winnie Kiiza has been summoned by police’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to be questioned about her alleged defamatory statements against former Defence minister Crispus Kiyonga.
In a letter dated 09 May,2017 signed by CID Director AIGP Grace Akullo, Winnie Kiiza is needed to enlighten CID about the allegations by former Bukonzo MP Kiyonga which states that she defamed him.
It is per the letter that in one of the joint press conferences attended by other MPs from Kasese District at parliamentary building on 4 April 2016, defamatory statements were allegedly uttered that Kiyonga was fuelling the tension between security forces and the Rwenzururu Kingdom.
Kiiza was meant to appear today. However, she received the summon late so she will be appearing on a date to be communicated.
