Kampala City Hall Court has sentenced 18-year-old Sheillah Nalubega to Luzira Prison for one and a half years after pleading guilty to giving police false information regarding the murder of former police spokesperson AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
According to KFM, Nalubega a resident of Bukomansimbi in greater Masaka region admitted before Grade one magistrate Moses Nabende that on the 29th/April 2017 at Kyaliwajala , she lied to D/ASP Sophy Neboshi that she saw and knew the killers of Kaweesi.
Nalubega told court that she gave this false information with an intention of getting the money reward which police had promised to give to any person with information that might lead to the arrest of the said assailants.
Magistrate Nabende said the alleged wrong information made D/ASP Neboshi to waste tax payers’ money while investigating it, hence Nalubega deserves a deterrent sentence.
AIGP Kaweesi was gunned down near his home in Kulambiro, a suburb of Kampala city, on March 17, 2017. His assassination is one of the most mysterious in the recent Ugandan history. Over 12 people have been arrested in connection with the former police spokesman’s death.
