Kenya Airlines has appointed president and CEO of Lot Polish Airlines Sebastian Mikosz as the new CEO of Kenya Airlines effective June 1st.
Mikosz was announced CEO in a statement released on Thursday by the national carrier’s chairman Michael Joseph and congratulated him for the new appointment.
Mikosz who started his carrier in 1997 has 20 years of experience in executive management both public and private sectors.
Joseph said that Mikosz was the CEO of esKy.pl, a leading central European online travel agency who has a lot of experience and said to save KQ from debts and financial break down.
“We wish him every success as he assumes his new responsibility, we have no doubt that with support we will strive to greater heights,” Joseph said.
Mikosz who has held positions of director in Deloitte business consulting in Warsaw and vice president of the polish information and foreign investment agency, a government agency responsible for attracting foreign investors in Poland is the only hope to find redemption for the KQ which is now almost depending on US investment bank PJT partners for help to raise new debt and equity funds.
Mikosz was appointed after a long global search for the airline’s new CEO after Mbuvi Ngunze who resigned in March this year having headed the troubled airline for the past two years.
Mikosz will be taking over a company which made losses of sh 4.7 billion in half a year which ended in September 30th 2016 and marked an improvement from sh 11.9 billion loss it posted the previous year.
