State Minister of Finance Henry Musasizi has commended the Church for venturing into commercial construction projects that raise income for self sustainability.
Musasizi was yesterday speaking t St Peters Cathedral Rugarama in Kabale District , during the Bishop Development Fund, launch Project projected to cost Ugx 3.1b.
The project is aimed at supporting the Diocese of Kigezi to raise a shopping arcade in Kabale town.
Min Musasizi together with State Minister for industry, David Bahati loaded Diocese of Kigezi for starting such projects that will supplement other sustainability projects within the Diocese.
“The Church of Uganda has built the Church house, and Government has been supporting them to clear the debt they owe equity bank. Currently we have cleared up to 20 billion, and the remaining debt is at Shs. 21 billion.” Musasizi said.
In the same regard, Minister Musasizi also thanked the Catholic Church for building the Mapeera House in Kampala, and the Muslims for building the King Fahard Plaza, all for income generation.
Musasizi urged the religious leaders to keep encouraging their members to embrace Government’s poverty alleviation programs for social-economic transformation.
