The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) Commander Land Forces, Maj. Gen. Peter Elwelu said peace is the most precious commodity anywhere in the world, “because peace is for all of us”. He said this while presiding over the handover ceremony of the incoming Commander of Military Police Brig. Mzee Sabiiti from Outgoing Commander Brig. Emmanuel Kanyesigye.
Maj. Gen Elwelu noted that, “when peace is available no one thinks about its importance, but when taken away, we all start looking for it”. He stressed that peace and stability are a continuous process.
“I want to thank the army leadership and the Commander In Chief for entrusting me with the responsibility of commanding the Military Police, a force that I admired for long,” Brig Sabiiti said.
Brigadier Sabiiti while receiving the instruments of command thanked the outgoing commander Brig. Kanyesigye for a job well done, exhibiting professionalism and maintaining a disciplined Force.
Kanyesigye was promoted on 4th April, 2017 to Brigadier and transferred to 4th Division Gulu as Division Commander. In attendance were UPDF and UPF Officers, RCC Makindye Moses Mugweri, as well as Local Councilors of Makindye Division.
