A 28-year-old man, Tumwesigyire Havad alias Nguru, has been arrested by police in Rukiga for allegedly defiling a 4-year-old girl.
According to the police, the incident occurred on August 20, 2024, at around 1930hrs, in Nyakatojo II cell, Nyakashebeya parish, Kashambya sub-county, Rukiga district.
The victim’s mother reported that she had left her daughter to use the toilet, but when she returned, the child alleged that Nguru, a neighbor, had urinated on her legs. Upon inspection, the mother found suspected semen around the child’s private parts and her skirt was wet.
The police were immediately notified, and a team of officers visited the scene, recorded statements from witnesses, and arrested the suspect to aid in investigations.
The suspect is currently being held at Rukiga Police Station, and inquiries are ongoing. Upon completion, he will be arraigned before the courts of law to answer charges accordingly.
ASP Elly Maate, PRO Kigezi, confirmed the incident and urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
