As its said that “not everyday is a Christmas,” the rare occurrence that took everyone by surprise in the the 2021 polls where Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine won the originally M7’s strong hold of Busoga may never happen again.
It should be remembered that Bobi wine swept the presidential votes and won in 10 out of the 12 districts & City, leaving the old man and NRM supporters in a shock
Museveni lost his traditional stronghold of Busoga to the inexperienced Robert Kyagulanyi in 2021 elections with 404,862 votes slightly lower than Kyagulanyi who polled 437,059 votes, implying that there was a small margin of 32,197 to separate the two.
Ahead of the forthcoming 2026 polls, some of the M7 guns have regrouped and layed strategies on how to defeat the opposition in order for the legendary president to regain his grip on the region.
The appointment of Assistant Resident City/District Commissioners has been a blessing to the government and has so far impacted a lot. It has greatly boosted the supervision and monitoring of service delivery, improved on mobilisation, as well as slowing down corruption mostly at the lower level.
Mr. Musana Richard, the Assistant Resident District commissioner of Namutumba district together with Mr George Mubiru,the Assistant Resident City commissioner for Jinja City met Mr Gulume Richard, the veteran RDC of Jinja district and also the chief whip of RDCs in Busoga region to pave a way forward.
Mr Gulume appreciated president Museveni for the appointment of Assistant RCCs/RDCs stressing that it has helped a lot to beef up the activities in the district presidential offices.
” I thank the president for his wisdom to appoint you. You have helped us a lot to reduce the heavy workload in these offices” said Mr Gulume.
“I also thank you for accepting this responsibility and the positive impact you have created in the community” continued the senior RDC.
Mr Gulume also promised to convene a meeting with all Assistant RDCs/RCCs to harmonize on the mobilisation strategy in order to ensure that president Museveni regains his former Busoga strong hold.
He encouraged them to seek time to time guidance from him and other senior stakeholders in the region.
