Hon. David Kabanda, the secretary general of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), has faced intense criticism from within the supporters of the organization accusing him of incapacity to occupy the top office.
Mobilizers also accuse him of mismanaging the top position and lacking the necessary capabilities.
Kabanda, a frequent television panelist, has been criticized for sharing views that lack depth and reasoning.
Moses Gumisiriza, a strong supporter of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and a PLU mobilizer in Western Uganda and Deputy President of UB40, while talking to our reporter said Kabanda has been embarrassing PLU on TV and several other platforms due to his ideological shortcomings.
Gumisiriza has called for a televised showdown to confront and expose Kabanda’s deficiencies.
Isaac Tibemanya, another PLU mobilizer in Western Uganda, questioned Kabanda’s qualifications, citing this as a reason to this mess.
“It’s perplexing and embarrassing that a senior six leaver, lacking the capacity to articulate complex ideas, leads individuals with advanced degrees, including Masters and PhDs. This undermines the value of education within our PLU organization and our country, Uganda.”
Tibemanya demands Kabanda’s immediate removal, emphasizing the need for education and intellectual rigor within the organization.
“Hon. Kabanda should pursue higher education before assuming any governance roles within PLU.”
Julius Nsaba, a PLU mobilizer in Kisoro district, raised concerns about the criteria for selecting regional coordinators.
“Hon. Kabanda has consistently appointed individuals unknown in the PLU family, overlooking dedicated mobilizers who have been with PLU for a long time.”
Despite efforts to reach him, Kabanda remained unavailable for comment.
As a member of Parliament for Kasambya County in Mubende District, Kabanda’s limited education – completing only A’ level – has raised concerns about his suitability for leadership roles.
