Uganda Investment Authority ( UIA) has appointed Jolly Kaguhangire as its New Executive Director today at the UIA headquarters in Kampala.
UIA is a semi – autonomous investment promotion and facilitation organization in Uganda owned by the government.
Kaguhangire has succeeded Dr. Frank Ssebbowa whose term of the office ended in 2016 .
“I promise to streamline the institution and accelerate industrialization in the application of science, technology and innovation.” Kaguhangire said.
Kaguhangire is the second woman to head the investment body, first being Dr. Maggie Kigozi who was at the helm from 2000 to 2011.
She served as an Assistant Commissioner Service Manager at Uganda Revenue Authority.
Kaguhangire is expected to promote, attract and retain value adding domestic and foreign direct investments through targeted marketing and aftercare services since the Authority of recent has failed to attract and help investors to set up businesses in Uganda.
