Former Minister for ICT Aggrey Awori wants the presidential age limit lifted to allow the incumbent President Yoweri Museveni to contest beyond the age of 75.
While appearing on NTV on Saturday, Awori said President Museveni should be left to contest the presidency as long as he is subjected to the vote.
In 2021, Museveni will not be eligible to contest the presidency unless a two thirds majority vote in Parliament approves lifting the age limit provision in the Constitution.
This comes at a moment when Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko is leading a group of MPs who are working towards defeating any attempt of amending the constitution to scrap the presidential age limit.
The 1995 Constitution bars any person above the age of 75years to contest for presidency.
