Uganda Cranes longest midfielder Tonny Mawejje has joined the retirement bracket like former Captain Geoffrey Massa who also retired from team early this week.
Mawejje handed his retirement letter to the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) on Friday evening with an official announcement expected on Wednesday at the weekly FUFA press conference.
“It’s been a hard decision but one that is right at the time,” Mawejje said.
“I am proud to have served my nation for over 14 years and the day I made my debut in 2003 against Mauritius will always be a proud moment for me,” He added.
His retirement leaves Denis Onyango and Hassan Wasswa Mawanda as the two most experienced players on the team.
