Government has started surveying Buvuma Island using helicopters yesterday for the coconut project that is starting soon on this island.
Through operation wealth Creation meant to eradicate poverty in Uganda, the government has started a coconut growing project in Buvuma.
Hon. Vincent Ssempijja the minister of Agriculture, animal industry and fisheries says that this project is set to improve Uganda’s economy.
Ssempijja says that coconut growing on large scale is rear in Uganda yet this crop is good and resistant to many pests.
“The government has already paid 30,000 residents to vacate the island to give room for the project.” Ssempijja says.
He adds that this coconut project is going to give many people jobs to earn a good living urging them to cooperate.
