Unlawful land evictions in Uganda have been the order of the day and they have widely affected the poor civilians who have no where to run to since the government had given the problem a deaf ear.
Now the ministry of land, housing and Urban development has embarked on a new system where before eviction; one has to report to police with an eviction court order before carrying out any demolition.
According to the minister, Betty Amongi, a number of people in the country have been carrying out illegal evictions
without court orders and displacing a number of people.
She adds that this has left a number of people most especially those evicted from the markets stranded due to
illegal evictions.
It is against this background that she notes that the ministry has introduced a new system to stop illegal evictions and grabbing of land by business people.
