Joash Mayanja Nkangi, the former Buganda Katikkiro died yesterday on Monday. His death was confirmed on Monday morning by his daughter Josephine Mayanja Nkangi.
Nkangi retired from public service in 2014 after a career spanning over 50 years both in the service of the government of Uganda and the kingdom of Buganda.
Nkangi had previously served as minister of finance, Attorney General and Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister. He was the Katikkiro (Prime Minister) of Buganda during the 1966 crisis.
Below is the full burial program for the deceased;
Wednesday 8th March – Body will lie in State at Bulange, Mengo
Same day – Wake at his home in Ntinda
Thursday 9th March, 8am – Funeral service at Namirembe Cathedral
Thursday 9th March, 12noon – Body lies in State at Parliament of Ug
Friday 10th March, 2pm – Burial at Kanyogoga, Kalungu West.
