The Aswa Regional Police have said they are investigating the alleged Kidnap of Owani Dick Denis, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate in the forthcoming Omoro County Parliamentary by-election.
On Thursday morning, the leadership of FDC revealed that Mr Owani had been kidnapped by unknown gunmen ahead of his nomination today.
“His whereabouts are yet to be Known,” the opposition party said in a post on their official Facebook page.
Speaking about the matter, the Aswa Regional Police spokesperson Ongom David Mudong said Mr Owani told them that he was kidnapped by occupants of an unknown vehicle who picked him from Adida village in Omoro District but later abandoned him at Corner Kamdini in Oyam District.
“We do take matters of threats to life including abductions seriously. Our regional teams in Aswa and North Kyoga have opened up general inquiries to help prove or disprove the allegations,” ASP Mudong said.
“We urge the complainant in the alleged incident to cooperate with police and provide us with all the necessary information.”
ASP Mudong Further noted that the complainant in the alleged incident is out of danger and has gone for nomination.
