The Agago Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Cosmas James Okidi has cautioned teachers and learners against abscondment and absenteeism as second school term begins.
According to Okidi, absenteeism by both teachers and learners is one of the causes of poor academic performance of schools, especially those which are government aided in the district.
He said, all those who will fall victim will be dealt with accordingly.
The second school term officially kicked off on Monday 9th May, 2022.
Okidi made the stern warning on Monday while on Radio Luo FM after receiving a phone call from Agengo sub county, about one of the teacher found drunk at 8:30 am on the very day learners returned to school. The culprit was netted during class time.
“I am calling upon head teachers to use public service standing orders’ manual to discipline any errant civil servant found contravening the laws,” the DRDC warned.
He also urged parents to send their children early to school and with enough scholastic materials to avoid any disturbances while learning.
On others government programs, Mr.Okidi encouraged farmers to observe food security by planting crops such as cassava and perennials ones that are drought resistant.
