The Director General of the Manifesto Implementation Unit, Willis Bashasha has asked leaders from Western Uganda to work in unison if at all they are to score high in the implementation of the 2021-2026 manifesto.
Bashasha made the call at the Induction retreat for District Leaders from Western Uganda currently ongoing at the National Leadership Institute(NALI) at Kyankwanzi.
Those invited for the retreat include; RDCs/RCCs, LCV Chairpersons, NRM District Chairpersons, City, Municipal and Town Council Mayors, and Chief Administrative Officers(CAOs).
The retreat organised by the Manifesto Implementation Unit under the Office of the President is expected to run for 4 days(1-4) where the delegates are expected to be tipped on valuable tools to facilitate the successful implementation of the manifesto.
The NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong opened the retreat on Monday with a detailed presentation on mindset change. He asked his listeners to induce the population to turn the infrastructural blessings in their areas to their economic benefit by embracing a range of government programs geared towards economic emanicipation.
Asked why the program was organised for only leaders from one region, Bashasha explained that the arrangement is to tackle all the regions. He said they had started with Kampala, and Buganda in the previous quarter and they will go on to the next sub region which will be communicated in the due course.
On the rationale of inducing the leaders in a pool, the Manifesto Implementation Chief noted that there had been reported concerns amongst the stakeholders with one party blaming the other for failure in the execution of their respective mandate. He said the knowledge gained from the retreat will help them to propagate harmonious working environments in their respective districts.
Professor Ephraim Kamuntu, the Chairperson of the 2021-2026 NRM Manifesto Committee took the delegates through the role of members of parliament in the implementation process of the manifesto, enumerating them one by one. He thus, appealed to listeners to provide support to their respective MPs to ably play their role.
The event is expected to wind up on Wednesday,4th by the Honourable Minister for the Presidency, Milly Babirye Babalanda.
