Minister for the Presidency Babirye Milly Babalanda has for the first time responded to allegations that the process to reshuffle Resident District and City Commissioners was fraudulent.
The allegations made by several senior politicians in the country included that Mrs. Babalanda also solicited Ugx 20 million from each person to be appointed as a resident district or city commissioner across the country.
The reshuffle for the presidential representatives took place on March 23rd. Several officers were dropped while others were transferred from cities and towns to distant areas. Those transferred included the Kampala RCC Hudu Hussein who was transferred to Zombo and Entebbe Deputy RDC was taken to Masindi.
Upon the declaration of the reshuffles, MPs led by Kasambya County Member of Parliament David Kabanda indicated that the Minister recruited relatives and in laws. He also alleged that those who maintained their positions had to offer Ugx 20 million each as bribery.
The Minister, while speaking to congregants at Shalom – Bukasa SDA Church in Mukono dismissed the allegations saying those trading them are mafias, pundits of pessimism who should not divert Ugandans from the real truth.
“Even when I remain alone, for as long as I am on the right path, I will still do the right thing,” the Minister said
Minister Babalanda also added that those ‘pundits’ will divert her efforts to fight for a better country. “Unless there is anyone with evidence to such effect. When you speak without evidence and recklessly. I even laughed at the Ugx 20 million allegation. Let them speak, and the truth shall prevail always.”
She said, there are so many diverse reasons why the world, full of wrong doers will never love people who do well. “Each time I work on land fraudsters, when they also have connections in government, and they see that those who protect them are out of government, they become jealousy since they remain with no protection,” she said.
She reiterated that her Ministry will work with only the right people and trust worthy because the corrupt still use government and portray the state image as bad. “That is why, even when I remain alone, for as long as I am right, nothing will worry me,” she said.
