The Alebtong Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Robert Adiama has offered transformational and comprehensive ideas with profound guidelines to the youth to enable them to be effective and productive citizens in the fight against poverty in a meeting held at the district council hall.
The meeting was called by the Alebtong district youth chairperson and the office of the community development officer to address the poverty issues among the youth. It was held on Wednesday, 20th April 2022.
In his lecture, The RDC gave his guide on poverty analysis and criteria that the youth should adopt in the fight against poverty to help them transit to prosperity with the vast government projects that are directed towards livelihood positive change. This communication came in line as the district leaders seek to prepare the youth with prior knowledge of government projects in question such as the parish development model, emyooga, among others.
The meeting constituted of other district leaders such as the Alebtong district chief administrative officer, the district chairperson, Alebtong district youth chairperson.
The sub-county chairperson of Ngetta, Yasin Omara praised the RDC for the wonderful speech he gave to the youth during the meeting. He says that the appointing authorities should maintain Mr. Adiama since his work is perfect.
“If we had chances and right over RDC appointment, Alebtong RDC would remain for life,” part of the comments from the youth reads. Omara said that they only lack powers to do so, but he, however, urged His Excellency, Yoweri Museveni Kaguta Tibuhaburwa to retain Adiama through other concerned people in the office of President. “Assign our RDC for life (untouched),” Omara said.
According to Omara, the Alebtong RDC is one character with a rare philosophy who is a trainer who trains even the district technocrats on proper guidelines and professional methods of administration.
Alebtong district youth chairperson, Robert Ocen, said the meeting also paved the way to create awareness and sensitize the people majorly the youth about the ongoing government programs like the Emyooga and the Parish Development Module (PDM).
“We want to do a lot on mindset change so that we achieve more from the vast government livelihood-changing programs. When the mindset is changed positively, all the government projects will operate as planned by the technical people from the ministries,” Ocen adds.
According to Ocen, the youths in the Alebtong district have more hopes in the parish development model in sustaining and transforming the lives of the youth in the district. However, he appealed to the district leaders to increase funding to the youth sector for proper service delivery in the district.
Before the closure of the meeting, the RDC had to give a brief background about him, leaving the youth in joy and hope as they described him as one of the most influential leaders with a mark that will remain counted in the current leadership generation.
The transformational lecture on overcoming poverty left the youth leaders with a task to challenge the world and become positive in whatever they do. A changed life and productive ideology will perhaps move Alebtong district steps ahead as far as development is concerned with the current RDC as the driver.
