The DPP has asked the court not to grant bail to Herbert Arinaitwe, the businessman accused of leaking media personality Martha Kay Kagimba’s nude photos.
Nude photos of the socialite, actress and media personality were leaked online in 2019.
After carrying out some investigations, the photos were later alleged to have been leaked by Herbert Arinaitwe who was then immediately arrested on 11th July 2019 by CMI, charged and remanded to Luzira prison.
The accused was also believed to have stolen two mobile phones, Samsung galaxy and an iphone, both valued at Six million, an ATM card, driving permit and shs400,000/= from Martha Kay’s purse.
Arinaitwe is also accused of drugging Martha Kay with scopolamine before robbing her.
Buganda road Magistrates court remanded Arinaitwe to Luzira after he pleaded not guilty to the charges of offensive communication under the computer misuse act and aggravated robbery.
In his defence, the accused stated that Martha Kay took the nude photos herself and that he was just framed.
His trial in 2019 did not happen and in his bail application he said he deserved to be released on bail. However, the application was opposed by DPP Timothy Amerit who believed Arinaitwe will escape from trial.
