Police in Kabale are investigating circumstances under which their own staff died of suspected poison.
The deceased is has been identified as number 53108 Police Constable Habyarimana Peter, 37 years old. He was attached to Kabale Field Force Unit and a resident of Kabale police barracks in Kabale district.
It’s alleged that the deceased had been on pass leave and he went back at his duty station at LC5 chairperson’s resident on Thursday last week.
Upon reaching his duty station his colleague Police Constable Chellengat on seeing him, looked weak and the face had changed and asked what was the problem, the deceased could not explain.
According to the Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate, the deceased developed stomach complications on Thursday night and on Friday morning he was rushed to Rushoroza hospital where he died from at about 9 pm.
“On Saturday, the matter was reported to Kabale Central Police station by ASP Kisembo Henry, the Field Force Unit zonal commander and homicide team swung into action, body was taken to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem and after which was taken to his home in Kisoro district for burial,” Maate noted.
