Parliamentary Committee on Commission of Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) was today shocked on hearing surprising confessions from some of the shs6 billion presidential handshake beneficiaries.
Typist Adakun Rose, who used to type the required paper work needed during the settlement process revealed that she got shs29 million but wasn’t aware of it.
Another Uganda Revenue official, Paul Ojambo said he was rewarded with shs29.5 million for photocopying papers needed for the case and working beyond 5 o’clock.
Last month COSASE started probing into the shs6 billion oil money which was shared amongst 42 senior government officials after their alleged role in a capital gains tax dispute, in which the Ugandan government was awarded a total of $700m.
COSASE chairperson, Abdu Katuntu adjourned the meeting to Friday this week where officials from the Ministry of Energy are expected.
