Two main opposition parties in the country are in a serious fight over East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) slots allocated to the opposition.
Uganda has nine slots for EALA including two for the opposition, one for independents and the six for the ruling party.
On Monday during primaries, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) had decided to send one party flag bearer to parliament to be approved leaving the remaining one slot for Democratic Party (DP).
Unfortunately, yesterday FDC changed its decision and decided to send two candidates who included Ibi Florence and Ingrid Turinawe to parliament for approval in order to claim all the two slots.
Remember DP had nominated its Vice President, Fred Mukasa Mbidde as a sole candidate to represent the party at EALA and today he is going to be presented to parliament.
FDC as a party wants all the two EALA slots to be given to its members citing that it is the official opposition in parliament according to the constitution of Uganda Article 82A.
