In the Just concluded African Union chair elections where Chadian foreign minister Moussa Faki Mahamat emerged winner, Kenya accused Uganda for not backing its candidate Amina Muhammad.
It is alleged that Uganda in the last moment withdrew its support from Muhammad thus resorting to a more favourable candidate.
A local daily on Tuesday quoted South Sudan ambassador to Ethiopia James Morgan claiming Uganda withdrew its backing because Kampala was not happy with the way Nairobi wanted “everything”.
Immediately after allegations, Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Sam Kuteesa responded by saying that Uganda is falsely accused.
“Uganda wishes to state categorically that our support to the candidature of Amina before and during elections was unequivocal,” it said in a statement,” Kuteesa stated.
Today, minister Kuteesa is at Uganda Media Centre to give a briefing to the media on the outcome of the 28the AU summit in Addis Ababa.
