A section of Democratic Party (DP)Members have proposed to Kampala City Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago to stand as Party President General in the next party elections.
Lukwago who is not in good terms with the current party President, Norbert Mao, recently alleged that Mao had done more harm than good to the party during his tenure thus citing that he should leave the other capable members to revive the sinking party.
This comes at a time when the oldest political party in Uganda is at a verge of collapse due to poor performance in the political field.
Recently, the party national Chairman, Muhammad Kezaala resigned from the position to take up President Yoweri Museveni’s appointment at a deputy Ambassador.
However, some party members attribute the current undesirable situation to President Museveni whom they say wants to dissolve their party until it collapses.
