Murder suspects Matthew Kanyamunyu, brother Joseph Kanyamunyu and girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari are today expected to appear before Nakawa Magistrate Court over the murder of child rights activist Kenneth Akena.
Earlier this year, the trio, who Winnie Byanyima stood surety for, was denied bail after Nakawa Court Magistrate cited that it would jeopardize the ongoing investigations.
According to prosecutor Anne Ntimba, the trio on 12 November, 2016, on Jinja road near Malik car bond opposite UMA main gate led to Akena’s death.
It is alleged that Byanyima’s nephew Kanyamunyu and Munwangari shot Akena after he scratched their car. Akena died at Norvik hospital in Kampala while being operated on.
