A total of 27 aspirants for the East African Legislative Assembly picked their forms to contest in NRM primaries.
The EALA race has attracted a lot of interest and NRM’s electoral commission offices on plot 12 Kyadondo road was so busy on the rainy Monday.
Among people who came with a lot of supporters was former state minister for Agriculture Mary R Mugyenyi. Ms Mugyenyi represented Nyabushozi county in the Seventh and Eighth parliaments.
The others included Sarah Kagingo, a former special president assistant for communications as well as Henry Banyezaaki, Matthias Kasamba, Emmanuel Dombo and Namara Denis.
Babu Francis and Akol Rose, the former minister of internal affairs returned the forms and got nominated successfully.
Addressing the press Dr Tanga Odoi said the nominations will close on Tuesday and called upon all others interested in the seat to come forward.
The Central Executive committee of the NRM party will vet the aspirants and come out with the list.
The current term of the present EALA expires in June.
