An ex-minister is on the police radar for ‘stealing’ her official vehicle.
The former minister lost her position in the last cabinet reshuffle and among government property, she never handed over was the ministerial vehicle a Toyota land cruiser – U/C plate series.
The former powerful cabinet minister whose office overseen a network of politicians across the country who acted on behalf of President Museveni, shocked peers when she left office without handing over her official vehicle.
Our security sources say the ex-minister could have used the money Parliament allocated for MPs to buy herself a car if she wanted but was now bypassing procedures working with some scrupulous officials in the Ministry of Works to change particulars of the vehicles to allow the former minister to sell herself the vehicle.
Information on our desk indicates that police is already on alert to cramp this vehicle and arrest the former minister if she does not voluntarily hand over the vehicle in a couple of days.
It’s a common practice among government officials especially politicians who use backhand methods to sell themselves government vehicles at giveaway prices.
A vehicle that cost a taxpayer sh600 million could be sold to the office for as little as sh5 million.
