Tulambule Wild tourism initiative to popularize national parks has reached Lake Mburo National park. This is an initiative supported by Uganda Wildlife Authority.
It was a remarkable journey as we made our first stop over at Igongo cultural center and country Hotel. This is an award winning and leading recreational complex. It has a captivating cultural museum on Southwestern Uganda history, culture and customs, Eriijukiro plus a hotel located exactly 12km along Masaka-Mbarara highway.
Here, Tourism state minister Godfrey Kiwanda and the group were welcomed with a great cultural performance after which we had a tourism meeting with the local leaders in this area.
We then visited Rwenjeru camping site owned and managed by the innovative local community members in Rwejeru village under the Rwejeru Tourism community Association, I was impressed by their passion towards promoting tourism. They took us on a tour around their camping site. They are in perfect condition and good for adventurous campers or travelers who are looking for a feel of the local community’s way of life. Minister Kiwanda thanked UCOTA and Rwenjeru community campsite for hosting him.
Here, the community women make very unique art crafts that they sell to tourists in order to earn a living. While here as a tourist, you get the opportunity to taste Ugandan local fruits in their natural form, without being grown with the aid of chemical.
Indeed Uganda is the pearl of Africa.
Our last stop was at the magnificent Lake Mburo National park where we spent the night. Lake Mburo is the closest national park to Kampala, about three hours drive from Uganda’s capital. Stay tuned as I will be showing you more of the overwhelming beauty Uganda has to offer.
