The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Gen Kale Kayihura has ordered for the arrest of District Police Commander (DPC) of Sheema district SP Mubangizi Innocent, who is apparently being charged with criminal negligence, aiding and abating crime.
It is alleged that Mubangizi misused his powers to release motor rally star, Ponsiano Rwakataka who has been apprehended on grounds of smuggling immature fish.
According to Police mouthpiece, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, the arrest had been executed following a high-speed chase of the truck that was carrying immature fish.
“Rwakataka remains a prime suspect and will be re-arrested and charged with smuggling of immature fish and threatening violence with a fire arm. Consequently, Rwakataka’s private firearm certificate has been revoked,” Kaweesi said.
