At the start of his music journey, singer Puis Mayanja aka Pallaso used to call himself Lizard before rebranding. Have you ever wondered why he decided to change his stage name?
Well, during an interview with NBS TV’s KURT on Saturday, the singing Mayanja brother explained why he had to rebrand before joining the active music business.
As an upcoming singer, Pallaso said that he got his inspiration from his big brother Jose Chameloene who was a big star during those days. And being that his brother had named himself after a reptile (Chameleon), he also decided to name himself after a Lizard to walk in his brother’s footsteps perfectly.
But this didn’t work so well for him, so when he went abroad to continue with his studies, he realised that it was time for him to stand on his own, and that’s when he decided to change his name from Lizard to Pallaso.
“I used to call myself Lizard because I was still emulating my brother Chameleone. But once I realised that I am not him, then I decided to rebrand to Pallaso, which means a joker. So I am now a serious joker,” he said.
At the start of his career as Pallaso, the singer managed to register several hit songs which included, ‘Go Down Low’ on which he featured Sheebah Karungi, and ‘Amaaso’ on which he featured Radio and Weasel among other songs which have since kept him on form.
