Uganda’s main opposition party-the National Unity Platform (NUP) has appointed some MPs to leadership positions in parliament.
“Today we released this list of comrades who will be taking charge of leadership of the Parliamentary Front as we continue to struggle for freedom and democracy,” David Lewis Rubongoya said in a statement on Friday.
The Kamwokya based political party appointed Nyendo-Mukungwe legislator Mathias Mpuuga as the Leader of Opposition (LOP) and his Manjiya County counterpart John Baptist Nambeshe as the Opposition Chief Whip.
On the other hand, Busiro East MP Medard Lubega Ssegona has been named Chairperson, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) with Bugiri Municipality MP also JEEMA president Asuman Basalirwa as his Deputy.
Nakawa West MP Joel Ssenyonyi will head the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) with Lucy Akello as his Deputy.
