Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces has donated 09 bags of rice, 09 bags of sugar and 09 boxes of cooking oil to Moslems of Kamuri mosque in Kakiri S/County Busiro North Wakiso district to help them during fasting season.
UPDF Deputy Chief of Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Colonel Sam Ntambirwe who represented UPDF on the occasion, while handing over the food items to the beneficiaries said that UPDF is a Peoples’ army that will always come out to give assistance to People irrespective of tribe, religion or region.
He informed them that even in Somalia UPDF has been offering such assistance to Moslems during fasting season, adding that their area will always be remembered for it’s vital contribution to the NRA fighters during 1981- 86 Liberation struggle hence UPDF can’t forget them.
Imam Abbas Kayongo, the head of Kamuri mosque while receiving the donation, thanked UPDF for remembering and contributing to the Moslem community and called on Moslems to continue being disciplined and peaceful as they have been during fasting season.
The District internal security Officer Lt. Mwondh who represented the resident District Commissioner Wakiso requested the residents to always cooperate and provide information to security organs so that criminals are apprehended and further thanked the Moslems for always being peaceful.
