The reign of Oliver Nakakande as Miss Uganda came to an end on Friday after Kezzi Entertainment, the Miss World exclusive licence holder considered her ‘unfit’ for the position.
Nakakande was crowned Miss Uganda 2019/20 at Kampala Sheraton Hotel, but since the pageant race didn’t happen in 2020 due to Covid-19 pandemic, her reign was extended till when it’s safe to organise another pageant.
But through her Facebook page over the weekend, Brenda Nanyonjo, the CEO of Miss Uganda franchise announced Elizabeth Bagaya as the interim Miss Uganda 2020/21, to carry on with all duties of Miss Uganda effectively until when a new Miss Uganda is crowned later this year.
Nanyonjo noted that Nakakande was decrowned because she’s too busy with her studies and has not been able to carry out her Miss Uganda responsibilities as required.
“This is due to the fact that Oliver Nakakande is away continuing to pursue her studies consequently unable to execute duties of the office of Miss Uganda,” she noted.
“Kezzi Entertainment the Miss World exclusive license holder, the Miss Uganda Foundation, Talent Africa, our partners and the Academy of Queens wishes Miss. Bagaya Elizabeth the best while executing her duties.”
